Abstract

Objective To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the elderly in township nursing homes of Dancheng County. Methods From September to December 2017,336 elderly people aged 60 and above were selected from the township nursing homes in Dancheng county.The basic information questionnaire and the simple mental state evaluation scale were used to investigate the selected respondents and analyze the prevalence rate and related influencing factors of MCI in the township nursing homes. Results The prevalence of MCI in 336 elderly people was 89.00%.There were statistically significant differences in the prevalence of MCI among different genders,ages,education levels and marital status (χ² _gender= 4.725,χ²_age= 9.989,χ²_{education level}= 47.029,χ²_{marital status}= 8.387,P< 0.05).Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that unmarried was the protective factor of MCI and primary school education was the risk factor of MCI. Conclusion The MCI problem of the elderly in the township nursing homes of Dancheng county was prominent.Health education and guidance should be actively carried out to change the daily life style of the elderly and improve their cognitive function.The whole society should pay attention to the health of the elderly.
