Objective To understand the status of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) diagnosis and treatment services among medical institutions,and to provide guarantee for the expansion of HIV and syphilis testing among STD patients. Methods From June to September 2018,a purpose sampling method was adopted to select some medical institutions for surveys in Hefei and Lu'an City.The survey included the basic information of medical institutions,structure of medical staff in STD clinics,screening programs for infectious diseases,the ability to conduct syphilis testing,the ability of STD diagnosis and treatment,etc.SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used to analyze the survey data. Results A total of 28 hospitals were surveyed.The clinical department that responsible for STD diagnosis and treatment was mainly dermatology in 71.4% of the hospitals,and other departments that engaged in STD diagnosis and treatment included obstetrics and gynecology,anorectal and urology.78.6% of the hospitals had established STD clinics.More than 90% hospitals were able to carry out HIV and syphilis screening,and 92.9% hospitals carried out both non treponema pallidum serological test and treponema pallidum serological test.75.0% of hospitals have the ability to diagnose and treat STD.and the types of STD that can be diagnosed and treated included syphilis,gonorrhea,and genital warts. Conclusion The capabilities of STD diagnosis and treatment services in medical institutions at all levels in the two cities under investigation had greatly improved,but the training of STD diagnosis and treatment standard service for medical staff engaged in STD diagnosis and treatment should be further strengthened.
