Objective To understand the death level and causes of permanent residents in Lu’an City. Methods Descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the level and characteristics of death using the data of cause of death surveillance in 2018 in Lu’an City. Results In 2018, the crude mortality of residents in Lu’an City was 609.70/100000, and the standardized mortality was 511.18/100000.The mortality of males (701.79/100000) was higher than that of females (514.64/100000)(χ2=693.47,P<0.001).The age trend of mortality was first down and then up.Among the three major diseases, the death constituent ratio of chronic diseases was 87.84%.The top five causes of death were malignant tumor, cerebrovascular disease, heart disease, respiratory disease and injury. Conclusion Chronic diseases, especially cerebrovascular disease, ischemic heart disease and lung cancer, are the main diseases affecting the health of residents in Lu’an City.
