Surveillance of intestinalnematodiasis in Pukou District of Nanjing from 2006 to 2019

Abstract

Objective To understand the epidemic dynamics and influencing factors of intestinal nematodiasis in Pukou District of Nanjing City,and to provide scientific basis for formulating control strategies and evaluating control effects. Methods Data of intestinal nematodiasis surveillance,anthelmintic medication,improvement of water and toilet and health education were collected in Pukou District of Nanjing city since 2006.Stool samples were collected.Kato Katz method was used to monitor intestinal nem atodiasis.Transparent tape anal swab method was used to detect Enterobius vermicularis.Saturated sodium nitrate floating method was used to detect soil Ascaris eggs. Results A total of 9 859 fecal samples were collected from Pukou District from 2006 to 2019,and 40 cases of intestinal nematodiasis were found,the infection rate in different years was between 0.00% and 2.04%.From 2006 to 2019,9 605 pupils and preschool children were selected,68 of whom were infected with Enterobius vermicularis,and the infection rate in different years was between 0.00% and 2.23%.By the end of 2019,the coverage rate of harmless sanitary toilets in the whole district reached 100%,the penetration rate of tap water reached 100%.The knowledge mastery rate of intestinal nematode disease control is 97.12%. Conclusion The prevalence of intestinal nematodiasis in Pukou District of Nanjing city is at a very low level,but the transmission link still exists in some areas.
