Abstract

Objective To explore the impact of community prevention and control of COVID-19 on influenza prevention and control. Method According to the 2017-2020 routine influenza surveillance data and the throat swab samples of influenza-like cases before and after the prevention and control of COVID-19 from January to May 2020, the positive level of influenza virus nucleic acid was monitored.Part of the throat swab specimen from a suspected case of COVID-19 was collected during the outbreak of COVID-19.The throat swab samples of the 4w to 18th influenza-like cases in 2020 will be tested for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid. Results During 2017 to 2020, the Wuhu City Influenza Network Laboratory tested 1,310, 1,405, and 1,599 throat swab samples from influenza-like cases, and the positive rates of influenza virus nucleic acid were 25.42%, 18.65%, and 36.52%, respectively. The positive rate in the 4th week of 2020 was 82.76%, and the positive rate in the 10th week was 0.Before the prevention and control of COVID-19, the positive rate of influenza virus nucleic acid was 48.84%.During the prevention and control of COVID-19, the positive rate of influenza virus nucleic acid was only 6.80%.The difference between the two period was statistically significant (χ2=204.952,P<0.05), The throat swab specimens of influenza-like cases collected during COVID-19 did not detect positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid, but the throat swab specimens of suspected cases of COVID-19 showed a positive rate of influenza virus nucleic acid of 14.59%. Conclusion The implementation of community prevention and control measures for COVID-19 has significantly reduced the positive rate of influenza virus nucleic acid.Prevention and control management measures have an important impact on the epidemic of influenza. At the same time, some suspected cases of COVID-19 were found to be positive for influenza virus nucleic acid.
