Analysis of monitoring results of salt iodine and urine iodine in special populations in Wuyang County from 2018 to 2019

Abstract

Objective To understand the iodine nutrition level of 8-10 years old children and pregnant women in Wuyang County,and to guide scientific iodine supplement. Methods A total of 200 children aged 8-10 and 100 pregnant women were randomly selected from Wuyang County in 2018 and 2019,respectively.Salt and urine samples were collected for salt iodine and urine iodine content detection. Results In Wuyang County,in 2018 and 2019,the qualified rate of household salt iodine of children aged 8-10 years old was 92.5% and 93.0%,and the median of urinary iodine was 181.0 μg/L and 203.0 μg/L respectively.The qualified rate of edible salt iodine of pregnant women in 2018 and 2019 was 96.0% and 91.0%,and the median of urinary iodine was 153.5 μg/L and 169.0 μg/L respectively. Conclusion The iodine nutrition level of children and pregnant women in Wuyang County is generally in an appropriate state,but some children and pregnant women lack iodine intake.
