Abstract

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the first mild case of child infection with avian influenza A(H5N6) virus in Fuyang City,and to provide reference for case diagnosis,treatment,prevention and control. Methods The medical service and close contacts of the child,suspected poultry,live poultry market environment were investigated.The specimens of the child,close contacts,suspected live poultry and market environment were collected and tested for influenza virus.Descriptive epidemiological methods were used for analysis. Results A case of child infection with avian influenza A(H5N6) virus in Fuyang City was detected by routine surveillance of influenza.The patient took oseltamivir phosphate about 10 hours after onset of illness and recovered from symptoms about 20 hours after onset.The close contacts were not infected.Avian influenza (H5) virus was detected in environmental specimens of suspected live poultry market. Conclusion The child has a history of exposure to live poultry market environment.Early detection and treatment are of great significance in reducing the severity of the disease and improving the therapeutic effect.Human-to-human transmission has not been found.
