Investigation on mental health status of hospitalized graduate students under COVID-19

Abstract

Objective Through the investigation of mental health status of hospitalized graduate students in a medical university,to understand the mental health status and influencing factors of hospitalized graduate students who under the “unified double-track” training systems and the spread of COVID-19 in winter. Method The DASS-21 scale was used to conduct an online questionnaire survey on the mental health status of hospitalized graduate students in Mudanjiang Medical College. Results The incidence of depression in hospitalized graduate students was 19.4% (61/314),the incidence of anxiety was 21.3% (67/314),and the incidence of stress was 11.5% (37/314).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that sleep disorders(OR=6.399,95%CI=2.726~15.022),irregular meals 1 and multiple times a week(OR=2.919,95%CI=1.070~7.963 and OR=5.822,95%CI=2.480~13.669),feeling pressure in course arrangement(OR=2.914,95%CI=1.548~5.485),lack of confidence to publish articles during postgraduate study(OR=2.410,95%CI=1.274~4.557),and resistance to hospital training due to recent epidemic (OR=5.637,95%CI=2.652~11.980) were risk factors affecting the menta health of the hospitalized graduate students. Conclusion During the COVID-19,hospitalized graduate students in training have abnormal mental health conditions,and various factors affect their mental health.The relevant departments should formulate effective intervention measures to improve their mental health.
