Abstract

Objective To understand the smoking situation and influencing factors among adolescents in Fengtai District of Beijing City,and to provide effective suggestions and measures for tobacco control among adolescents. Methods A cluster random sampling method was used to select adolescents from junior high school,senior high school and vocational high school in Fengtai District to investigate the adolescents smoking and influencing factors of tobacco.For the classification variables,frequencies and percentages were used for statistical descriptions,and the chi-square test and Fisher’s exact probability were used for comparison between groups.Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of smoking among adolescents. Results The teen smoking rate in Fengtai District of Beijing City was 14.1%,including 19.0% for boys and 7.2% for girls.The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that almost every day seeing teachers smoking on campus,someone among close friends smoking,close friends giving cigarettes,family member smoking one to four days in the last seven days,having seen someone smoking on TV in the last 30 days were risk factors for adolescents to try smoking. Conclusion The smoking behavior of adolescents is still serious in Fengtai District of Beijing.Parents’ and teachers’ smoking behaviors will increase the adolescents’ curiosity about smoking.
