Analysis of death characteristics and premature death life of residents with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Suzhou from 2011 to 2020

Abstract

Objective To understand the death characteristics of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Suzhou from 2011 to 2020,and analyze the change trend of COPD death and life loss caused by premature death. Methods The death data of COPD in Suzhou from 2011 to 2020 were collected through the death cause monitoring system of residents in Suzhou.The mortality rate of COPD,sex-specific mortality rate,years of early death life loss (YLL),and the average annual loss of health life per thousand people (YLL rate,‰) were calculated by using descriptive epidemiological method.The mortality rate was standardized by the national standard population in 2010.The annual percentage change (APC) was used to analyze the development trend of death and premature death of COPD. Results From 2011 to 2020,the average annual crude mortality rate of COPD in Suzhou was 72.42/100 000,and the average annual standardized mortality rate was 40.07/100 000,both of which showed a downward trend.APC was-4.80% (t=-7.341,P<0.001) and-7.73% (t=-14.042,P<0.001) ,respectively.The total number of YLL is 414 473.06 person-years,and the proportion of men is 1.82 times that of women.The rates of YLL and YLL are both in the download trend.The APC of the whole population are-3.78% (tYYL =6.264,PYYL=0.001) and-5.42% (tYYL rate =8.062,PYYL rate<0.001),respectively.The decline rate of women is higher than that of men.The YLL and YLL rates increased with age,and reached the peak at the age of 80 and above. Conclusion From 2011 to 2020,the mortality rate of COPD and the loss of life caused by premature death in Suzhou showed a downward trend.Men and the elderly were high-risk groups,and targeted measures for prevention and control of COPD were needed.
