Objective Objective the study was aimed at investigating the blood pressure control and related factors among adults with hypertension in Anhui province. Methods We conducted questionnaire surveys and physical examinations among 15,821 residents over 18 years old at the surveillance regions in Anhui province using the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method. Among them, 1866 subjects with medical history of hypertension and complete information were included in the study and analyzed for their blood pressure control and related factors. Results the percentage of subjects with blood pressure under control was 24.4% overall, and 24.5% and 24.3% for male and female subjects, respectively. This rate was found to decrease with age. Among subjects who went to college or received higher education, the rate was 40.6%, while for subjects who didn't go to primary school, the rate was 19.6% (χ²＝22.225,P<0.001). Logistic regression analysis indicated that factors associated with uncontrolled blood pressure were old age, less education, failure of taking medicine and BMI ≥ 24.0 kg/㎡. Conclusion the percentage of subjects with blood pressure under control was low among adults in Anhui province. The blood pressure control was associated with factors such as age, education levels, BMI and compliance of taking medicine. Our study suggests that healthy life style, weight control and standard treatment are important factors for better control of blood pressure among adults with hypertension.
