Abstract

Objective To explore the association between stress, social support, coping style and life satisfaction among higher vocational nursing students. Methods 1275 nursing students from 2 higher vocational colleges in Fuyang were randomly obtained by means of Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), College Students' Stress Scale, Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ) and Multidimensional Student' Life Satisfaction scale (MSLSS). And structural equation model (SEM) was built based on the data. Results SEM revealed CMIN/DF=1.268, RMSEA=0.013, and indexes of GFI, AGFI, RFI, NFI were all above 0.9. Stress and passive coping style had passive effect on life satisfaction (the overall regression weights were -0.374 and -0.141 respectively). Good social support and positive coping style had positive effect on life satisfaction (the overall regression weights were 0.295 and 0.267 respectively). Conclusion Stress, social support and coping style are important forecast variables of life satisfaction. Stress and passive coping style are risk factors for life satisfaction, while good social support and positive coping style helps to enhance the life satisfaction of college student.
