Objective To develop an easy and stable method of manganese determination in human blood by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). Methods By optimizing the experimental conditions of graphite temperature and proportions of matrix modifiers, the standard addition method was used to determine the manganese in blood. Results Under the optimal conditions, the determination limit for blood manganese was 0.5 μg/L. The absorbance showed linear to the manganese concentration in the range of 1.0~20.0 μg/L and the correlation coefficient was over 0.9990. Conclusion The method with high sensitivity and good accuracy is easy and rapid, which is suitable for determination of manganese in blood.
