Abstract

Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics and influencing factors of hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) repetitive infection in Chizhou City. Methods Based on the data of HFMD in Chizhou City from 2014 to 2018, case definitions were established to screen out the cases of repeated infection.The epidemiological characteristics and influencing factors of repeated infection were analyzed by descriptive epidemiological methods and multivariate logistic regression. Results A total of 229 cases of HFMD were reported.The rate of repeated infection was 2.02% (229/11334).The peak incidence of repetitive infection is concentrated in May-June of each year, mainly in kindergartens older than 3 years old.Guichi District had the highest number of reported cases of repetitive infection, and the rate of repetitive infection in urban areas was significantly higher than that in rural areas (χ2=10.614,P= 0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that age group and residence were independent influencing factors of repeated infection. Conclusion Young age group and rural areas are the protective factors of repeated infection, and specific prevention and control measures should be taken.
