Objective To understand the cognitive status of students in Suzhou higher vocational colleges on chronic non-communicable diseases, so as to provide reference for improving college students' awareness of chronic non-communicable diseases, strengthening the the prevention and treatment and reducing the incidence of these diseases. Methods Through questionnaires, the cognition of chronic non-communicable diseases among college students in four higher vocational colleges in Suzhou was investigated.The overall cognitive situation of chronic non-communicable diseases and the cognitive differences of college students with different demographic characteristics were analyzed. Results College students have a low awareness rate of diabetes diagnosis, diabetes harzards, obesity judgment, daily salt intake, etc.Non-medical students, males, and junior college students have poorer knowledge of chronic non-communicable diseases(P< 0.05). Conclusion The awareness of chronic non-communicable diseases among college students was still insufficient.It is necessary to strengthen the knowledge education related to chronic non-communicable diseases, improve college students’ awareness and ability of prevention and treatment of chronic non-communicable diseases, and reduce the incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases.
